Gas Z Compressibility Factor
In this section, I would like to make sure that you can easily describe the behavior of your gas z compressibility (deviation) factor at any pressure. Therefore, I will give you brief technical notes by answering three questions.
Why the gas z-factor increases as pressure increases?
At very low pressures, the gas behaves as an ideal gas; that is why the gas z-factor approaches a value of 1.0. As pressure increases with a constant temperature, the molecules become very close together, generating repulsive forces between one another. These repulsive forces cause the actual volume to be greater than the ideal volume of the gas. As a result, the gas z-factor increases above 1.0 as pressure increases. Moreover, all black oil properties respond differently as pressure changes in the reservoir.
What are the PVT properties that affect the gas z factor estimated value?
The gas z-factor is strongly dependent on the values estimated for both gas pseudo-critical temperature and gas pseudo-critical pressure.
